Adrian Hunt – Store Manager
I have been with First Class for 1 ½ years. My main duties that involve the warehouse are; replenishing stock, there is liaison with the sales manager to ensure stock is sufficient and can monitor when stock needs to be re-ordered. I liaise with the office staff and our mechanic to ensure all the transport is kept in working order. I take the various incoming warehouse deliveries that include items such as timber, sanitary wear or tiles. When not in the warehouse, my duties include recovering redundant materials and waste from new jobs we have started as well as then delivering materials to the job when necessary. I also help to complete finishing touches on finished projects, such as painting and decorating. I have also been known to play a few practical jokes on my colleagues!
John Brookes – Plumber and Specialist Works
I have worked at First Class for 5 years. My main role at First Class is to carry out all the plumbing works necessary. During the installation I can be needed throughout the time we are completing works; especially at the beginning of a job where I will rip out a current bathroom and can then start to build in the plumbing works needed and then at the end of an install to connect up appliances. I can also carry out many other aspects of a job, including tiling, ceilings and carpentry.
Andy Butter – General and External Works, Multi Skilled, Tiler and Plasterer
I joined First Class 2 years ago as a multi skilled tradesman. This involves bricklaying, tiling, external works (for stairlit installation) plastering, carpentry work and tiling. I have recently attained my digger licence which involved a 2 week course to learn how to work and drive a digger; I am qualified to erect tower scaffolding and to use a Paslode power tool.
Ray Cooper – Carpenter and Multi Skilled
My time at First Class has been a journey of 18 years. Within those 18 years we have expanded massively from purchasing more buildings for stores and offices as well as creating a show room and grown the workforce. My daily roles can be varied from carpentry: doors, architraves, skirting, windows and fitting kitchens, as well as painting and decorating, shuttering and tiling. I am a multi skilled tradesman and can carry out any range of tasks within my working day.
Ian Brimicombe – General and External Works, Plasterer and Bricklayer
Having been with the company for 9 years, I have seen the company expand with acquiring new units – more than we started out with, and more recently, we have also started to carry out works for a stairlift installation company in the last couple of years. My work at First Class involves dry lining, plastering, insulation, carpentry and brick/block laying and slabbing. I have various qualifications including digger licence, first aider at work, disc cutting and tower scaffolding – these qualifications have allowed me to increase my skills and job variety.
Darren Rawlings – Carpenter, Multi Skilled, Plasterer and Tiler
Over the 7 years I have worked for First Class, I have seen a change in the company. First Class has grown bigger through employing more people and by creating a showroom. My job role involves a range of jobs including; installing Respatex and Nuance wall panels, carpentry work, painter, tiling, plastering and glazing. I am a multi skilled tradesman which allows me to have the variety of jobs I do.
Paul Benson – Plumber, Gas Safe, Specialist Works
My job role involves every aspect of domestic plumbing and heating, Geberit toilet maintenance; re condition units and fitting new units and gas work that includes any domestic alterations. Since being with the company for 10 years, I have seen changes in the amount of grant and private work as it is now 50:50, in this time we have launched an online supply site and invested in other avenues such as more units and more staff. During my daily work I have the help of a plumbing apprentice who I can inspire, teach and pass on knowledge whilst he watches on and develops his skills.
Doug Edgington – Plumber and Tiler
By trade I am a plumber and carry out any general plumbing works as well as tiling, general building works and carpentry. I have been with First Class for 3 years.
Sashko Vranchovski – Carpenter, Multi Skilled and Tiler
I only recently joined First Class in November 2014 as a multi skilled worker carrying out all aspects such as carpentry and tiling, installing wall panels and painting. The most frequent question a customer will ask me is normally ‘When will we finish!?’
Steve Underhay – Carpenter, Tiler and Multi Skilled
My work includes all areas of general carpentry, decorating and tiling. I have been with First Class for only a couple of months but have enjoyed the hectic days its brings. Since being with First Class I have passed my health and safety test and asbestos training, which now allows me to handle non licensed asbestos, and am now qualified to deal with first aid at work.
Justin Darlow – General Construction Operative/Lorry Driver
I started at First Class in 2005 where my role as a General Construction Operative began as well as driving the tipper lorry. My role includes collecting materials and equipment from builders merchants, storage and other sites, delivering to sites around the area. I assist in keeping all sites clear of rubble and spoil. I assist in a range of groundwork tasks such as preparation, demolitions, foundations and drainage. I also carry out brickwork, blockwork, plastering, plaster boarding, dry lining, insulating, rendering and wall tiling.
Reg Humphrey – Carpenter, Multi Skilled and Tiler
I joined First Class in 2008, my job role involves undertaking a range of woodworking or other related construction procedures as necessary on a projects including kitchens, bathrooms and wet rooms.
